Although more than 25,000 190SLs were built between 1955 and 1963 these cars are rare on UK roads and this 1958 model had been stored for many years before coming to us for a full restoration.
The car was stripped to a bare shell, blasted, zinc primed, repaired and painted in gloss black set off beautifully by re-chromed and refurbished brightwork….lots of it on the 190SL. The interior benefited from a full re-trim in original maroon and a fully refurbished dash with reconditioned instruments. A new mohair hood finished off the cosmetics.
Mechanically the car arrived in “drives and stops” condition but was subject of a comprehensive refurb or renew. With powder coated suspension, refurbed wheels with new rubber and a new braking system all the car needed was a refresh of the 1900cc engine.
